Met Police need results to go their way to land a play-off berth, but will not be distracted by what is going on elsewhere – because they will not know.

Boss Jimmy Cooper’s men head to relegated AFC Hornchurch knowing a win and defeat for either Enfield Town or Dulwich Hamlet will land them a top five finish.

The Blues, who will not have scouts at their rivals’ fixtures, host the Kent strugglers with a fully fit squad after Matt Pattison recovered from a calf injury suffered in last weekend’s 2-0 win at Witham Town.

Met Police have been in and around the play-off places the entire season, but a crippling run of only two wins in 11 matches during February and March has left them playing catch-up on the final day.

And, far from being frustrated his side’s fate is out of their hands, Cooper has his men concentrating on getting the result they need to take advantage of any slips up.

“Whatever happens, this has been a great season,” said the manager.

Ready: Matt Pattison has recovered from a knock picked up last weekend to be available for this weekend's crunch clash

“We are in the race until the final day and have a Surrey Senior Cup final to look forward to.

“There are a number of clubs in this league – with bigger budgets than us – who would love to be in our position.

“There are games we should have won that would have put us up there already – the defeat to Bury Town springs to mind.

“It would be disappointing to miss out given we have been up there punching above our weight all year.

“But a season is not decided by one or two results, it is decided by 46 games and we are where we are because we deserve to be.”

He added: “The players have responded in recent weeks and given us a chance.

“We are not looking elsewhere we are only thinking about making sure we get the result we need.”

Should the Blues bag a play-off berth they will play the semi-final next Thursday, with the final on bank holiday Monday.
