Met Police boss Jim Cooper is looking forward to facing Maidenhead United in the FA Trophy for more reasons than one.

A 2-0 win over Dulwich Hamlet on Saturday – thanks to goals from Steve Sutherland and Rob Bartley – set up the third qualifying round trip to the Conference South side on November 29.

Cooper said: “It’s a good draw for us. Not only is it a winnable game, but it is also a great chance for us to test ourselves against a Conference South side.

“We have aspirations to be playing at that level, and so this will give us an opportunity to see where we’re at.”

Between now and then, Met host Maidstone United in Ryman Premier League action today (Saturday).

“Maidstone wanted the game moved to Sunday because they will have played an FA Cup replay match on Thursday, but we said no because we’d have players missing,” Cooper said.

“We did apply to the Ryman League to move it to a much later date, but they refused.”

He added: “Here’s hoping Maidstone have extra time and penalties, it is dog eat dog in this league after all.”

In the end, Maidstone beat Stevenage 2-1 in normal time.

Cooper will be without skipper Will Salmon (hamstring) and Matt Pattison (knee) this weekend, but he is hopeful that the pair will be available for the Maidenhead trip.
