Brentford bounced back from last weekend’s heavy defeat with a comfortable 2-0 win over Leeds United at Griffin Park on Saturday.

Despite missing a first half penalty, the Bees took the lead on the stroke of half time and doubled it with a quarter of an hour remaining.

The home side were in control for much of the match and were worthy winners.

Early on Alex Pritchard saw a low shot from 25 yards touched behind for a corner.

A few minutes later Pritchard saw his free kick palmed away by Marco Silvestri, with Moses Odubajo’s follow up cross cleared.

Just before the half hour mark Jason Pearce fouled Andre Gray inside the box, but James Tarkowski blasted his spot kick over the bar.

Shortly after a Pritchard corner to the back post was headed back across goal and Jonathan Douglas’s close range effort was cleared off the line.

Brentford took the lead when a Douglas pass released Jota after he wrong-footed the defender and his lovely finish got the better of Silvestri.

Leeds showed more purpose in the early stages of the second half, with a couple of chances. Some neat interplay ended with Souleymane Doukara shooting over.

A great run from Odubajo saw him feed Alan McCormack, who in turn found Gray. The striker’s resulting shot was blocked.

At the other end Sam Byram cut in from the right, but his shot was well blocked by returning Bees’ captain Tony Craig.

A good effort from Jota on the right hand side of the box saw his shot deflected for a corner, from which a great shot by Odubajo was saved by Silvestri.

Brentford wrapped things up when McCormack’s run to the edge of Leeds’ box saw his low shot take a touch off Silvestri and find the bottom right hand corner.
