Bring on the bloom

Flowering plants and security lights have been added to The Triangle public gardens in Surbiton to make them more welcoming to visitors.

Councillor Patricia Franks, of Alexandra Ward, said the small public gardens in Alexandra Drive were tidied up earlier in the year and by the summer should be blooming with roses, lavender, heathers and hypericum.

New security lights are also being installed, which switch on and off at pre-determined times.

The path will also be refurbished shortly and the fence replaced when funds are available. Residents will be consulted before reinstating benches.

Coun Franks added: "We have worked hard to bring this about and it is all credit to the officers that they have achieved so much on such a relatively low budget.

"I hope that, come summer, the gardens will be well established and residents will be able to enjoy them to the full."
