Man stamped in the head, beaten and threatened in Sutton

A 31-year-old man was assaulted by robbers who beat, kicked and threatened him in attempt to steal his belongings in Sutton last Saturday.

The incident happened in Maldon Road at the junction with Bute Road in Wallington at 3.10am.

The man was walking home after a night out when he was confronted by a group of two men and two women.

One of the men hit him and he ran away.

"I realised I wsa covered in blood. At first I thought I'd been knifed so I stopped to check myself over," he said.

But the man said the four then caught up with him and shouted abuse at him.

"It was mainly from one of the girls. She said they would cut me up and strip me if I didn't hand over my belongings. I refused to give them anything.

"I was trying to think of a way out of situation when one of the guys tried to reach into my pocket to get my phone.

"As he did that I clouted him and then all four of them punched me to the ground, kicked and stamped on me, including on my head.

"It was then that my phone fell out of my pocket and they took it. They also snatched a box of cigarettes off me."

The group then made off towards Manor Road.

The man suffered cuts and bruises in the incident and was later treated by ambulance crews at his home. One of his teeth had also pierced through his cheek from where he had been kicked and stamped on.

His phone was recovered later.

"It's made me very angry and I ache a lot," added the man. "But I definitely won't let it affect me mentally or let it stop me from going out or doing what I want to do."

The first suspect was described as a male of tanned complexion, possibly Middle Eastern, 5ft 4in, wearing a white baseball cap, a white tracksuit top, and white tracksuit bottoms. He had a London accent and appeared clean-shaven and of slim build.

The second was a black male of slim build, approximately 5ft 8in to 6ft tall in his late teens. He had long plats in his hair, some of which were tied in a ponytail. He was wearing a black and grey stripped top with a pocket at the front and dark jeans.

The females were both white. One had brown curly hair in a pony tail. She was wearing a black hooded jacket and dark jeans, was about 5ft 4in, 16 to 17 years old and was of medium build.
