Over 500 homes and businesses around Sutton High Street lost power this afternoon.

A UK Power Network spokesman said a fault on a high voltage cable took place at 3.48pm, affecting 549 electricity customers in the area.

He said engineers were working as quickly as safely possible to restore power to three customers in Sutton High Street following the power interruption.

Supplies have since been restored to 546 customers.

Wilkinson's is among the businesses still to be affected, and remains closed.

It is understood staff at the store have been outside for an hour waiting for power to be restored.

The fault might have "happened" at 15.48 but the power was cut off to the Aspects building at about 15.10. Came on about 10 minutes ago at 17:10
