Sutton summer festival kicks off with High Street entertainment
9:00am Friday 11th May 2012 in News By Matt Watts
Circus performers will be in Sutton High Street on Saturday
Magicians, acrobats and swing dancers are set to descend on Sutton High Street to kick-start a summer of celebrations.
On Saturday, May 12, the High Street will host a mini-carnival to mark the beginning of the summer, which will see the borough hold festivals, be visited by the Olympic torch and host street parties to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee.
Councillor Graham Tope, executive member for community safety, leisure and libraries on Sutton Council, said: "Sutton’s traditional Take Part Take Pride Festival is always something to look forward to, but this year’s events promise to be extra special."
Circus performers, including a magician, will bring a carnival atmosphere to the town centre and live music and dance acts will take to the Trinity Square stage to entertain shoppers.
There will be stalls offering activities, including interactive crafts and games to mark the start of Scola’s adult learners’ week, and to promote Sutton's adoption and fostering service.
Events will take place between 11am and 3pm, and some will be dependent on the weather. For more information visit sutton.gov.uk.
