Sutton has the third-fastest selling houses in the country, according to new figures.

A house in Sutton takes an average of just 29 days to sell, according to property giant Rightmove.

The statistic makes Sutton the third fastest place in the country when it comes to selling houses, behind Cambridge and Lewisham.

The rate that houses in Sutton are selling is speeding up too - last year it took an average of 48 days for a house to go from being listed to being sold subject to contract.

Miles Shipside, Rightmove's market analyst, said: "Our study looks at the average time from first listing, to being confident enough in the buyer’s ability to proceed, to actually mark it up as sold subject to contract.

"So although some sellers might find a potential buyer in a few days, the averages reflect the time taken to carry out thorough checks to minimise the risk of the sale falling through.

"People shouldn’t be disheartened if their property has been on the market before a sale is agreed for longer than the time shown, but if it’s been on a lot longer they should ask themselves and their agent if there is a different tactic they could try to help garner more interest in the property."

Wales has some of the slowest-selling properties with houses in Powys taking an average of 113 days to sell.
