An airgun was used in an attack on a bus last night shattering the windows and leaving passengers stranded in the middle of the night.

The double decker 213 bus was attacked in Clarence Avenue, near Darley Drive in New Malden at about 11.25pm last night.

The incident comes days after a suspected drive by shooting which shattered the windows of two cars parked in Connaught Road, New Malden on Saturday.

Bianca Alice Walker was a passenger on the bus. She tweeted: “213 bus via New Malden attacked by shooters. Bb guns hit and shatter the windows and door. Passengers stranded.

“How the entropy of life leads you to get on a bus which is shot at by a runaway with a dangerous toy gun.”

Mike Weston , the operations director of Transport for London buses, confirmed the bus operated by London General, was involved in the incident.

He said: “There were no injuries. We are working with the Metropolitan Police with regards to this matter.”

Police confirmed some sort of air weapon had been used in the attack and no arrests had been made.
