Six disabled athletes have managed to win more than half of all the medals up for grabs at a Special Olympics Greater London Athletics competition.
The Kingston Athletics squad of Special Olympics Surrey won nine medals out of 12 when they competed against other teams at Hillingdon athletics stadium on Sunday, June 17.
As one of the smallest teams put forward, Daniel Wolff, Mark Gorman, Lauren McColl, Alan Booth, Alice Scott and Mikael Undrom won five gold, two silver and two bronze medals among themselves.
Councillor Patricia Bamford, executive member for children and young people at Kingston Council, said: “What a tremendous achievement for these young people. I am delighted their efforts have so clearly paid off and they should be very proud.”
