Uncle of Chessington theme park fall girl thanks well-wishers

The uncle of a girl who fell from a height while queuing at Chessington World of Adventures has thanked wellwishers.

Dozens of people have left messages of support on the Chessington World of Adventures Facebook page for Jessica Blake, 4, who suffered fractured ribs and a fractured skull.

She had been queuing on the Tomb Blaster ride when she fell about 1pm on Thursday.

An eyewitness initially said the height was 30 foot but the theme park has said the fall was 14 foot (4.2 metres).

Her uncle Steve Poullos said on Facebook on Sunday evening, his niece was fighting for her life.

He said: "Thank you to all well wishers the whole family appreciate the support at this terrible time."

Earlier BBC reporter John Young said Jessica's aunt, who has been at St George's Hospital Tooting where Jessica was being treated, had thanked people for their prayers and concern.

The Health and Safety Executive has begun an investigation into how the girl, from Sheerness on the Isle of Sheppey, Kent, fell.
