'Abduction attempt' sparks safety concerns

First published in News by , Digital editor

A Tolworth school near where a boy was the victim of an alleged abduction attempt was the second school in a fortnight to call police over concerns for children's safety.

A young boy was allegedly grabbed by a man near Knollmead Primary School, Tolworth, on Monday morning but struggled free.

The school declined to comment, referring calls back to police.

However, others schools across Kingston have written to parents to warn them to be vigilant.

In her email, headteacher of Grand Avenue Primary School, Margaret Barrington, said: “Last week I also had occasion to report an incident to the police where a stranger approached a child.

“This is also being followed up by the police and at this stage they believe the two incidents are not linked.”

If you have any information call Kingston CID on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Mrs Barrington at Grand Avenue however couldn't be bothered to tell the parents at the school , the first they found out about it was when the incident which happened at a water fountain well within the school was reported on the Comets website yesterday . I believe thats basically and fundamentally a dereliction of duty .
