A man was taken to hospital with head injuries after a crash on the A3 this morning.
An eye-witness said the incident involved a taxi, a van and two cars.
A spokesman for London Ambulance said: "We got a call at 6.50am about a road traffic incident involving two cars on the A3 Beverley Way.
"We sent an ambulance crew to the scene. Staff treated a 35 year-old man with head injuries and took the patient to Kingston Hospital."
An eyewitness said: "There was a black taxi cab which looked like it had turned over in the crash and had been put back on its wheels.
“I think the other vehicle involved was a van but it was hard to tell.
“The northbound A3 had been reduced to one lane by police and they were directing the traffic round the crash site.
“I couldn’t see any ambulances or drivers of the vehicles so maybe they had already been taken to hospital.
“The worst thing though was that all the cars going southbound were slowing down to rubber-neck at the crash which caused a jam going the other way too.”
