A school community has paid tribute to a pupil who died after being hit by a black cab.

Ali Nasralla died on Tuesday after he was hit while riding his bike near a busy A3 junction on Monday.

The eight year old was on his way home from Robin Hood primary school when he was hit by the vehicle on Robin Hood Way at 4pm.

He was taken by air ambulance to St George’s hospital in Tooting with head injuries but died yesterday.

Headteacher Jeff Lloyd said: “The school community is deeply saddened to learn that Ali Nasralla passed away last night in St Georges Hospital.

“Ali, a Year 3 pupil at Robin Hood School, was sadly involved in a road traffic accident yesterday afternoon after he had left school for the day.

“The thoughts of everyone connected with the school go out to Ali’s family and friends at this sad and distressing time.

“The children in the infants and junior classes have been notified and the school will work with parents and all appropriate agencies to support all members of the community through this difficult period.”

“The school has advised all parents how they can access additional support for their child should it be required as a result of hearing this tragic news.

“I would ask that Ali’s family, friends and indeed, the whole school community, is given the space and personal privacy they will require to come to terms with loss of Ali Nasralla in a dignified manner, away from the spotlight of the media.”

Earlier police said the driver of the cab had stopped at the scene. He was not arrested.

A post-mortem examination will be scheduled in due course.

Police are now appearling for witnesses to the accident.

Witnesses should call the traffic garage witness line on 0208 941 901
