Teenage thugs who left a man with life-threatening injuries after a brutal nightclub assault have been sentenced.

Beau Feighan, aged 18, and 19-year-olds David Lee Macdonald and Jordan Harris left their victim in a coma after kicking his head “like a football”.

Anthony Laywood, 46, is still recovering from the attack outside of Oceana and cannot work or drive.

Feighan, 18, from Roehampton, Macdonald, 19, of Longford Court, Epsom, and Harris, 19, of Moor Lane, Chessington, all admitted their involvement at a previous hearing.

The trio were sentenced at Kingston Crown Court on June 3 for the violent assault.

The court heard the teenagers got in to an argument with Mr Laywood outside the club in the early hours of October 16, 2010.

The club’s doormen intervened and sent them on their way, but they approached Mr Laywood again.

Macdonald, an apprentice mechanic, ran off after flooring Mr Laywood with a punch to the head.

Harris, a trainee carpenter, then jumped in and kicked Mr Laywood in the lower body, before also running away.

While Mr Laywood lay helpless and unresponsive on the floor, Feighan kicked him in the head “like a footballer taking a penalty”, according to witnesses.

He was detained by Oceana staff before he could escape.

Judge Campbell said the assault had left Mr Laywood with life-changing injuries.

Detective Sergeant Damion Cummings said: “This was a cowardly assault by all three defendants on Mr Laywood.

“He did not see the assault coming giving him no time to react and protect himself. The defendants all tried to run from the scene having committed the assault.

“I would like to thank Mr Laywood and his family for the support they have given this investigation and wish him the very best for the future re his ongoing treatment.

“I hope the sentence's given go some way to helping Mr Laywood and his family move forwards after this horrific assault.

D Sgt Cummings also thanked the Oceana staff, and members of the public who rushed to help Mr Laywood after the brutal assault.

Feighan was previously unable to be named in the press because he was just 17 when he carried out the attack.

Feighan was handed four years imprisonment for GBH with intent, Macdonald received 12 months for unlawful wounding and four months for ABH, and Harris was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment, suspended for two years.
