Boris Johnson and Bob Crow became unlikely buddies when they met for the first time at Kingston Grammar School.

The school hosted Radio 4 current affairs programme Any Questions on Friday, March 25, as part of its ongoing 450th anniversary celebrations.

Shadow justice minister Sadiq Khan and foreign affairs correspondent Dame Anne Leslie joined host Jonathan Dimbleby, the Mayor of London and the general secretary of the RMT transport union on the panel.

Despite expectations of fireworks between the two men, they both supported the Olympics and even agreed to go out and share a couple of pints, although Mr Crow could not guarantee there would be no industrial action during the games.

Grammar school sixth former Joe Teltow asked the guests about the Nato-led action in Libya, while the school’s director of drama Renata Allen asked whether she should join the following day’s march to defend her pension.
