Workers were purring with delight at a Worcester Park vet surgery last week, while delivering a serious message about how to treat pet cats.
Frean and Smyth Veterinary Surgery, July 10, in London Road, donned whiskers and tails on Saturday, as part of a fundraising and awareness day for the Feline Advisory Bureau (Fab).
Donations and sales from the Kitty Katz rescue stall managed to raise £136, while fun such as pin the tail on the cat, guess the weight of the cat and a lucky dip of cat goodies helped raise an extra £23.30.
Claire Bessant, Fab’s chief executive, said it was very important that cat owners know how to properly look after their pets, which includes looking out for well-hidden warning signs.
Ms Bessant said: “Early care is vital. Vaccination, parasite control and feeding to prevent your cat becoming overweight will set it up for a healthy life.
“A good cat owner takes notice of changes in their cat's behaviour as these can indicate illness or stress - cats do their best not to let us know they are unwell and owners need to follow their instincts that something might be wrong and ask for veterinary advice.”
