Members of the 9th New Malden Guides have raised £386 towards a trip to the UK for their sister Ukrainian group.

Ukraine Guides will be making the 1,618-mile land trip for a second visit to the group, based at St John Divine in Kingston Road.

Unit guide leader, Elaine Ryder- Mills, 55, said: “A couple of the guides went over to stay with them in February this year and they look forward to seeing them in the summer. They are like our partners, in fact, more like twins.”

As part of the New Malden Festival Stalls Day on July 10, Brownies and Guides held three tombolas offering a variety of prizes including sweets, toys and special mystery draws.

Prize donations were made to the stall by members of the New Malden group, founded in the late 1960s.

The craft fair was part of the annual Malden Fortnight with events including a Day of Dance, the Grand Parade and a Korean Food Festival.
