A former New Malden haunt of the notorious 50s gangsters, the Kray twins, is set to go under the hammer at a commercial auction next month.
Krispy Kreme, the American doughnut restaurant, will see its lease expire on the Burlington Road site next year, prompting an auction to be held in December by property consultancy Allsop’s in central London.
Previously known as the Cambridge Arms and Rooms, the former pub became a favourite of Ronnie and Reggie Kray after Ronnie negotiated a partnership with the manager.
As prominent West End nightclub owners, the Krays were able to bring illustrious guests to New Malden such as former world heavyweight champion boxer Sonny Liston, a guest of honour at the pub’s launch party.
According to the auction guide, the 6,800sq ft site contains three floors with 30 car parking spaces and is expected to sell for at least £1.75m.
