A man who recently lost his uncle to multiple sclerosis will run 22 miles on Sunday to help raise money for charity.
Mark Shearer, 29, is running for MS, following the death of his much-loved uncle Phillip Hayes- known affectionately as Bungey- before Christmas.
He is also raising money for cystic fibrosis, as his 26-year-old cousin Marianne Martin suffers from the condition and is not expected to live past her forties.
The four-hour run will take him from his flat in Clapham Junction to his grandparents house in Weybridge, going past Brompton and Kingston Hospitals- where his family members have been treated.
Mark, who co-founded environmental website, Project Dirt, has already raised almost £2,000 which will be divided equally between both charities. But he hopes to double that figure if he can.
“It’s great to have reached that target already, but I just want to raise as much as possible as they are both very worthwhile causes, “ he said.
And despite the threat of more snow over the weekend, Mark insists he will carry on whatever the weather.
“My friends have all been asking me if I want to borrow their skis for it- but come sun, rain or snow I will be doing it, “ he added.
To make a donation visit Mark’s MS page at justgiving.com/markshearer or justgiving.com/markshearer2 to give to Cystic Fibrosis.
