A man who sexually assaulted two pregnant women in a spate of 12 separate attacks in south west London has been jailed for more than five years.

Georgi Hadzhiiliev, 29, from Barnard Road, Mitcham, targeted lone women between 22 and 43 in Twickenham and Wandsworth over a three-week period, usually grabbing his victims from behind.

He committed one of the assaults while on bail.

Hadzhiiliev pleaded guilty to 12 counts of sexual assault at Kingston Crown Court in August, and was sentenced on Monday, September 12.

The first attack was on January 20, when Hadzhiiliev groped a woman walking from Turnham Green tube station in Chiswick, before following a woman walking to a beauty salon in Kew Road, Richmond six days later.

The following nine assaults took place in just over two hours on Wednesday, January 27 between 8am and 11am.

Hadzhiiliev was arrested on Friday, January 29 after he was spotted by officers on foot patrol near Kew Road.

He was questioned at Kingston Police Station where he was questioned and later released on bail.

Just over a week later, just before 11am on February 9, he assaulted a 12th woman in Seeley Road, Tooting, following her along the road and touching her from behind.

Hadzhiiliev was arrested at the Tooting Working Men's Progressive Club.

Detective Inspector Suzanne Jordan said: "This series of sexual assaults sparked concern to the local community and it was clear that there was a serious risk to women with Hadzhiiliev roaming the streets.

"Hadzhiiliev was quickly identified and arrested and I hope that seeing him convicted provides some comfort for the victims."
