A FORMER Kingston University student has created a “Hobbit house” to help children with special needs and “bring fantasy interior to life”.

Lili Giacobino moved from Switzerland to the UK in 2008 to study product and furniture design at Kingston University.

She also worked as a social worker for children with special needs and uses her experiences in her designs.

The Hobbit house is a safe space for children made from recycled products.

Ms Giacobino said: “The Hobbit house uses recycled floorboards and reclaimed portholes found second hand, which came from a ship that had travelled the world.

“These additions create a lovely sense of adventure and narrative for the project, much like the novel it was inspired from.”
