Fears have arisen that major London hospitals could lose vital services after it was revealed the NHS plans numerous cutbacks across the country.
The cutbacks reportedly include a proposed cut in bed numbers, changes to A&E and GP services and numerous ward closures, according to draft sustainability and transformation documents.
The cost-cutting moves are believed to be planned due to NHS England’s need to find £22bn in savings within the next five years.
Plans for cuts to two major hospitals in north west London, Ealing and Charing Cross, have already been revealed by The Guardian, while campaign group 38 Degrees has also been commissioned to analyse proposals for the rest of England.
South west London houses major NHS hospitals including Kingston Hospital, Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals and St George’s Hospital.
