Celebrity chefs, family entertainment and enough food to keep you full for weeks – the BBC Good Food Festival returns to Hampton Court Palace this Bank Holiday weekend, from August 27 to 29.

We have picked eight highlights you won’t want to miss….

Explore the palace

Tickets get you entry to the palace as well as the food festival, so you can wander around Henry VIII’s old 16th century home. Added bonuses include the Great Garden Game trail (with prizes at the end) and the Gnome Zone packed with garden gnome-themed games and activities.

The Summer Kitchen Theatre

Top chefs will show off their skills and expertise as the cook up a storm at hourly sessions in a 300-seat theatre set up in the palace grounds. Highlights include Michel Roux Jnr with Emily Roux on Saturday, Masterchef host John Torode and Celebrity Masterchef winner turned food writer Lisa Faulkner on Sunday and Paul Hollywood on Sunday.

The Interview Stage

Catch your favourite celebrity chefs in conversation with broadcaster Lotte Duncan and even ask your own culinary questions.

Shopping

Whether you are after something to eat or drink or a kitchen gadget or accessory, the mass of stalls at the festival should have what you’re after. Big brands such as Lakeland and HelloFresh will be there alongside lip-smacking smaller independents.

Live Tudor cookery

Learn how dinners were made back in Henry VIII’s day at the palace’s Tudor kitchen. Chefs will be making some great historic grub while youngsters can have a go at helping to turn the spit and there’s an opportunity to sample to food when it’s cooked.

Circus Sensible

Watch live circus shows in the big top or have a go at learning skills at workshops between performances.

Yo! Sushi masterclasses

The Yo! Sushi experts will be helping people become experts in cuisine with 30 to 40 minute sessions (£6) in which they will help them prepare three dishes each, which they can take away at the end. Lunch and a lesson.

Retro tunes

The music on the bandstand will have a vintage feel, with performers The Polka Dots, Doolally Tap and Cody & The Retro Boys.

Tickets cost £18 adults, £14.50 concessions and £9 children aged five to 15 in advance or £19, £15.50, £9.50. Go to bbcgoodfoodfestival.com
