Families have celebrated the rejection of a 12.5m telephone mast being built on their doorsteps this week.
Phone giants Vodafone and 02 had applied to Kingston Council for permission to install the mast to improve coverage at the junction of Tudor Drive and Park Road.
But officers rejected the application on Tuesday, just days after residents planted flowers at the spot where the mast would be in protest.
Emma Holliday, of Park Road, said: “The flowers are all in bloom and stand as a reminder of how the local community came together, fought the application and won.
“However, we know that the mobile phone giants will try again and we are concerned about where they will strike next.”
