Dog walkers could be fined £100 if they do not clean up after their pets.

A plan to introduce a public spaces protection order within the borough will come before councillors next week.

A previous initiative involving "forcefully worded signs" was trialled in Kingston, a report said, but officers concluded that "a strategy based solely on education and persuasion, without enforcement, [...] is not recommended".

The level of fine, if introduced, could be reduced to £60 if it is paid within 10 days.

Councillors will vote on the plan at a meeting on Tuesday, March 24, from 7.30pm at the Guildhall.
