A girl aged seven and a man in his seventies have been hospitalised following  a crash between a car and a pedestrian outside Kingston Hospital this afternoon.

Ambulance crews were called to Galsworthy Road just after 3.30pm.

A London Ambulance spokeswoman said this evening: "We were called at 3.39pm to reports of a road traffic collision involving a car and a pedestrian on Galsworthy Road in Kingston.

"We treated a girl reported to be seven-years-old for leg injuries.

"She was taken to St George's Hospital as a priority, and a man reported to be in his seventies.

"We also treated a man and took him to Kingston Hospital."

Surrey Comet:

A car appears to have been cut

Galsworthy Road was closed and buses put on diversion as emergency services helped the injured, causing long tailbacks.

One motorist said: “The traffic is gridlocked. I was trying to get through Richmond Park but I’ve had to turn back and try and get to Ham.

“There were two fire engines and Galsworthy Road was blocked off. The road further down [Kingston Hill] was completely blocked.”

A Surrey Comet photographer caught in the traffic took these pictures, which show the roof of a silver car had  been cut off.

It is at the same crossing where Surrey Comet features editor June Sampson was struck in November 2013.
