Now, I usually have my column sent over to the Comet editor at the crack of dawn every Thursday morning, but this week I was a little behind schedule as I have just been out on a mission.

This mission may seem insignificant, but not if it means there could be the possibility of having no turkey ready to tuck into on Christmas Day.

So, my son and I hopped on the K2 bus into Kingston at 8am to go and pick up a seasonal bird from Marks and Spencer to avoid any disappointment.

I have to say, I love going out with my son, who is now at an age where he can have a proper conversation and gets thoroughly excited when we go to the shops.

He pushed the trolley, haphazardly may I add, and I picked up a few treats as we went up and down the aisles.

We have nearly finished all our shopping, but another early morning trip may be needed to get the final bits and bobs.

The other day, a lovely lady, who I am guessing had just finished her shift at the Royal Mail, came up to me in Sainsbury’s and told me how much she enjoyed reading my column.

It really meant a lot and it was funny to hear her tell me about some of my stories that she had read, and she also asked about the children.

So much has changed in my life over the past three years and it has been great having you enjoy the journey with me too.

Unfortunately, this will be my final ditty for 2014, but I am pleased to say I will be back boring you with my weekly antics in 2015.

Over the festive season we’ll be celebrating lots – there is Christmas, my son’s birthday and our wedding anniversary, so it will be exciting and busy.

So all that is left for me to say is merry Christmas and I wish you all love, luck and happiness for the year to come.
