A man hoping to break the world record for the number of marathons completed in a year wants people to join him for a Boxing Day run.

Marathon man Rob Young, 31, will kick start his post-Christmas run in Richmond Park at 3.40am and his effort will be broadcast live on BBC Breakfast News.

Mr Young, of Rothesay Avenue, East Sheen, wants others to join in and burn off the Christmas feast by joining him for all or part of the 26.2 mile distance.

Runners, cyclists and joggers can join in with the marathon at any time between 4am and 9am and afterwards can enjoy warm refreshments.

Mr Young aims to complete 367 marathons in 365 days and will end with the London marathon in April next year.

Throughout his world record attempt, Mr Young, who wears a kilt for each of his runs, is raising money for children's charity Dreams Come True.

Mr Young said: "Pushing myself on a daily basis and raising money for charity is a dream come true for me.

"Boxing Day looks set to become a very special day for me and I am certainly looking forward to meeting as many people as I can that join me on my run.

"If I can inspire people to take up running and continue to raise significant funds to help children realise better lives, then that’s all the Christmas gifts I need to help push me towards achieving my London marathon finish line goal."

Mr Young will pass Sheen Gate at 3.40am, 4.15am, 6am, 7.30am and 8.50am.
