Retired members of the armed forces and their relatives have marked a full year since the Royal Star and Garter home moved to Surbiton.
The newly-constructed building was officially opened last October, after residents were transported from the charity's ageing facilities in Richmond.
The charity won a Pinders award for its care of people with dementia, and managers were praised by firefighters in February for the building's safety systems.
Activities manager Heather Robinson said residents had received a warm welcome from the community.
She added: "It’s been a busy but rewarding year and we’re looking forward to the future. It’s amazing to see how far we’ve come in such a short space of time."
