Homes in Chessington were left without water following a burst water pipe earlier this afternoon.

Residents complained about reduced water pressure and no water at about 2pm today.

The water is now back on.

A spokesman from Thames Water said: “Customers’ water supply should now start returning to normal after a burst water pipe in Clayton Road caused a disruption in service.

“We apologise for any inconvenience, and moved as quickly as possible to get things back to normal."

Councillor Margaret Thompson said: "I am really angry about this. It's been leaking for nearly a week.

"This afternoon the water went off with no warning to residents. I was able to find out from Thames Water that it was abnout to go back on again.

"It seems it might go off at the weekend and I want to know how it will inform residents.

"I don't think it is acceptable. A stand pipe in Clayton Road was cascading water this morning.

"It's blocked one lane of traffic so traffic is piling back."
