Seven rabbits in danger of being run over or eaten by foxes have been saved by a woman out walking her dog.
Josie Turner, 67, of Elm Road, Chessington, found the animals running loose near the amusement park last Wednesday. She asked staff for help but was turned away.
She said: “All I wanted was help and a box to put them in. “Rabbits running around in this weather will not survive.”
The lucky bunnies, named Waltzer, Merry, Carousel, Bubble, Dodgem, Candy, and Floss, after popular amusement park attractions, are being cared for by Furry Friends Animal Rescue (FFAR) in Old Coulsdon.
FFAR’s owner Emma Semple spent two-and-a-half hours trying to round up the rabbits. She said: “They are all fine, althought it could have had a very different outcome.”
She said Chessington World of Adventures had changed its policy as a result of the incident.
The animals will be spayed and vaccinated this week. For information on adopting one of the rabbits, call Emma Semple on 020 8407 1080.
