Councillors are considering the license of Oceana nightclub following the fatal stabbing of a 20-year-old man.
An emergency licensing meeting is being held this afternoon after the death of Jamie Sanderson at the Clarence Street club in the early hours of yesterday morning.
The application was made by Metropolitan Police following a serious incident review with Kingston Council yesterday afternoon.
Leader of the council Derek Osbourne said: "This is a shocking incident and our thoughts are with the victim’s family and friends.
"If Oceana are found to be culpable in some way then we have to decide whether it is right for such a venue to have a license in Kingston.”
Licensing review meetings have the power to review the working of clubs and pubs, impose conditions on working practices and opening hours.
In the most extreme circumstances they could remove a licence, closing the club, which is one of the most popular in south west London.
