Police were scrambled after a pair of swans settled on the hard shoulder of the A3 this morning.
The two birds were spotted near the Hook junction, northbound at Esher at around 9am.
A spokeswoman from Surrey Police said: "One lane was closed while arrangements were made to remove the swans - who had moved on to the hard shoulder.
"A local charity attended and removed the swans and the road was clear by 10.30am."
