X Factor reject Ashley McKenzie is due to release the first single from his "hotly anticipated" album.
The Croydon singer's single, Deep in Love, from the upcoming album Set Me Free, is set for release on July 28.
His album is expected to be released in October, and according to his publicist listeners can expect "an original and British sound."
The 22-year-old stared in the third series of the reality TV show but was eliminated in the fourth week.
The series was eventually won by former Brit School student Leona Lewis.
Ashley said: "I saw the show as a learning opportunity and it gave me the courage and confidence to pursue my dreams further."
A statement put out by his publicist said: "The talented singer-songwriter has arrived, standing on his own two feet, armed with flawless production and raw talent."
It continues: "Accompanied by a controversial video, it makes for a combination to sit up and take notice of and shows he is clearly here to make a statement.
"Ashley McKenzie is ready to cement his name in the music industry and with his oh-so-smooth demeanour and charming yet edgy new look, plus an instantly recognisable voice; he can only hit the big time."

Yeah, alongside Renee and Renato, Mr Blobby, Keith Harris and Orville.
No power on earth would drive me to buy anything that is a byproduct of X-Craptor.

Stop hating him for what he is, stop hating cause he has chosen a different path for his life than most others, applaud him for trying to make his life different from the normal. Croydon boy makes good I think, Its amazing in a previous comment someone noted two people from croydon that had reached big time, just two........ out of all of Croydon just two, he should be more ashamed to say that statement than proud because croydon should be behind everyone that tries to be something special. At least Ashley supports croydon, where the hell are Kate n June since they got limelight.

Everyone look out for Jock in Midem, make sure this one doesnt get distribution....

Mr J Jones wrote:Wow, is this what managing an artist is about.
Yes, I actually also wish the guy luck and I hope that he's successful. I just very much doubt that he will be? People get themselves a manager who make them believe their own hype (Terence Trent Darby springs to mind). The look of Chaka Khan with facial stubble "dragged through a hedge backwards" doesn't really do much for Ashley, either. Far too much makeup and a bad photographer? Anyway, good luck and I'll leave off now :o)

In my opinion, this kid is putting himself into the hardest industry to be sucessful in. What makes you think that being a rude little thug will sell records?
I guess I must be the same after all Im on the internet all day too !.... Your correct in noting that I am Ashleys manager and I am not making any judgements about the people that have made comments, as I stated before all comments are appreciated. I haven't actually taken Ashley and turned him into anything, Ashley is the same person that I met, managing an artist is not about changing the person the world sees but about doing the negotiations required to help that person with the choices they make for themselves. I think the picture published was not the greatest from the photoshoot as the shadowing is quite deceptive however, I can assure everyone Ashley is definately not in drag. The complete set of images from the photo session will be available to view shortly and should correct that view. I understand from the publicist that the full range of images were made available to the writer of this article and he chose the one published but then again the writer also chose to label Ashley as an X factor reject as opposed to finalist, which you will agree is a very demeaning way to start an article. There is always going to be mixed views on any music produced by any artist and I am glad that you have chosen to await the final release to pass judgement, I am sorry that you feel that the acoustic version isnt too good as Ashley will be releasing both polished and unplugged versions of several of his upcoming tracks. Ashley is already working on a book of stark and interesting images and knowing Ashley I have no doubt that there will be several references to the comments he has received on his journey since X factor. Which brings me to the references to X factor, The show is supposed to be a showcase for UK talent, however, it seems that the people that do enter are unaware that irrespective of the level you reach within the show, the UK music industry does not favour the artists. Ashley knows I also wish him the very best, he is a very talented singer / songwriter and I hope that his public see beyond X Factor to give him the same chance that everyone should have in the industry.

"Ashley", it'll be number 36. Tops! What's that these days, about 2000 sales? And as for being a brain-dead loser, at least I can spell? Apart from maybe Liberty X, can you name me any other losers of these tacky shows that managed to maintain a little more success other than one record? Tony, I agree with you. However I don't think that Alexandra from Big Brother has done Croydon any favours. However, look at the likes of Kate Moss (Ashley, she's a supermodel) and June Brown (Ashley, she's an actress in EastEnders). There are quite a few more local celebrities.
