Osibisa to turn out at Fairfield Halls

Osibisa have toured for four decades
Afro-beat pioneers now in their fourth decade of touring are set to retread old ground.
Osibisa burst onto the music scene in 1969 playing a unique blend of jazz, funk, R&B Latin and African rhythms, recording 20 studio albums and collaborating with artists including Stevie Wonder.
Appearing at The Fairfield Halls eight times between 1974 and 1980 the band will return as part of the venue’s fiftieth anniversary as part of the monthly STAND! event.
Formed in London by three Ghanaian and three Caribbean musicians, Osibisa played a central role in developing an awareness of African music among European and North American audiences in the 70s.
The band currently feature in photographer Frazer Ashford’s exhibition Faces at the Fairfield. The exhibition returns to the Fairfield in November.
Joining the group for STAND! will be Fowokan, who blend soulful reggae and funk.
Forged from their time together in the legendary British funk band Cymande Fowokan re-unites founding member Sam Kelly on drums with singer Jimmy Lindsay. STAND!
