What’s the best to tell the tale of one of the world’s first and certainly most notorious serial killer? A musical, of course.
Forget Sweeney Todd, the real life horrors of the 1888 Whitechapel murders will be brought to the stage in Jack the Ripper – A Musical Tale at the Cryer in Carshalton from June 8 to 11, performed by Avalon Theatre Company.
Writers Denis de Marne and Ron Pember claim to have stayed true to the gruesome facts as the story flits between the dark streets of Whitechapel and a noisy Victorian Music Hall.
