A children’s show, based on a book by the best-selling author of The Gruffalo, is heading to Croydon.

What the Ladybird Heard was written by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Lydia Monks and is now being brought to life on stage at Fairfield Halls with live music, original songs, puppetry and interactive fun.

When Hefty Hugh and Lanky Len plan to steal the farmer’s prize cow, they don’t reckon on the tiniest creature of them all scuppering their plans. The ladybird enlists the woolly sheep, the hairy dog, the fat red hen and the dainty dog to take on the villains and win.

With lots of rhyming and repetition, the show is perfectly suited to pre and primary school children aged three and up.

What the Ladybird Heard is at Fairfield Halls’ Ashcroft Theatre from Tuesday, November 19, to Saturday, November 21. Tickets cost £12.50. Go to www.fairfield.co.uk or call 020 86889291.
