Noomi Rapace revealed some of the scenes in Ridley Scott's new sci-fi film Prometheus left her so disturbed she suffered nightmares.

The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo star plays space archaeologist Elizabeth Shaw in the Alien prequel about a spaceship, Prometheus, which goes on a mission to explore signs of alien life and the origins of mankind.

Noomi said: "It really messed me up, I got the worst, crazy, disturbed dreams for a week or something so it really felt like I had stepped into some kind of nightmarish hell."

The Swedish actress, who stars alongside Michael Fassbender and Charlize Theron in the film, revealed she worked closely with Ridley Scott to prepare for the role, as well as hitting the gym.

She said: "I did a lot of physical preparation for this one. It's different, sometimes it's more collecting information and doing research. But this one was quite physical.

"Also it takes place in the future so it felt like I need to use my imagination more than doing interviews and stuff like that.

"But I was working really close with Ridley as well. We talked a lot, and finding this person was something I did close to him."
