It’s the end of an era as Mad Men has run its closing credits for the last time.

The series finale marked the last ever episode of the advertising agency period drama that has drawn in scores of fans over seven seasons and made stars of its leading cast.

Fans would no doubt have been delighted to see Peggy (Elisabeth Moss) finally find love with Stan (Jay R. Ferguson), Joan (Christina Hendricks) remain strong and single, and Pete (Vincent Kartheiser) back with his estranged wife and living a happy new life in Kansas.

Mad MenJon Hamm as Don Draper (BSkyB)

It was a much sadder ending for Betty (January Jones), who was coming to terms with dying from lung cancer and leaving behind her three children, while Don (Jon Hamm) went through something of an epiphany at a spiritual retreat and was last seen practising yoga before hitting on the idea for one of Coca Cola’s most successful adverts.

Now that your Mad Men fix will have to remain consigned to box sets, where can you catch up with the lead characters in their new lives?

Jon Hamm

Jon HammJon Hamm (Richard Shotwell/Invision)

Now that he’s hung up his Don Draper suit in the wardrobe for the last time, Jon is free to play some very different roles – and the variety he’s gone for certainly suggests he is loving the freedom of not being tied to the hard-nosed ad boss.

He can be seen in US sitcom Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, about a woman who breaks free of a doomsday cult, and is also signed up to star in the satirical summer camp reboot Wet Hot American Summer.

On the big screen, he can be heard voicing a character in kids blockbuster Minions and is set to star alongside Gal Gadot, Isla Fisher and Zach Galifianakis in comedy Keeping Up With The Joneses.

January Jones

It looks as though January could be planning a well-earned break post Mad Men, as she doesn’t have any big new projects confirmed so far.

However, like her co-star Jon she has gone down the comedy route for a different role, starring in this year’s sitcom The Last Man On Earth. It sees Will Forte as the only man to survive a plague, who begins to regret his wish for female company.

Elisabeth Moss

Elisabeth MossElisabeth Moss (Richard Shotwell/Invision)

Elisabeth has been building up a strong CV for herself in recent years, with projects such as surreal rom com The One I Love and TV mystery series Top Of The Lake under her belt.

She looks set to continue bagging high-profile roles, with two films lined up now that her stint in the long-running show is over.

Her co-stars for Truth, a film about a news anchor who broadcast a damaging report about how President Bush avoided fighting in the Vietnam war, include Cate Blanchett, Robert Redford and Dennis Quaid.

She can also be seen in the upcoming sci-fi action film High-Rise, about the residents of a tower block whose lives start to spiral out of control, alongside Tom Hiddleston, Jeremy Irons, Sienna Miller and Luke Evans.

Christina Hendricks

Christina HendricksChristina Hendricks (Jordan Strauss/Invision)

With plenty of work lined up for the foreseeable future, Christina looks like she will be trying her hand at a variety of roles, too.

She is set to star with Keanu Reeves in the horror film The Neon Demon, directed by Nicolas Winding Refn and due out next year.
Before that, there’s a TV movie called Roadies with Imogen Poots, and she could be heading back into TV with a pilot for new comedy Another Period currently being filmed.

Vincent Kartheiser

Vincent KartheiserVincent Kartheiser (Richard Shotwell/Invision)

Life as Pete may be over, but Vincent is raring to go with some brand new parts on the horizon.

He can be seen in the upcoming thriller The Blunderer with Jessica Biel and Patrick Wilson, as well as Day Out Of Days, about a 40-year-old actress trying to make it in the ever-younger Hollywood film industry which stars Melanie Griffith.

Vincent also voices a character in the animated TV series High School USA!.

Aaron Staton

Leaving behind Ken Cosgrove, Aaron is looking at a complete change of pace for his next job.

He’ll be appearing in rom com The List alongside another cult TV alumni, Karen Gillan, who played the Doctor’s assistant with Matt Smith in Doctor Who.

Rich Sommer

It won’t be all new faces for Rich in one of his upcoming jobs, as he’ll be joining Jon again for Wet Hot American Summer: First Day Of Camp.

The actor who played Mad Men’s Harry Crane will also be appearing in upcoming film My Name Is David, about a workaholic drug addict who finds an abandoned baby on a train and decides to bring it up himself.

He’ll also feature alongside Tracey Ullman in Good Session, a TV movie about a couple working through their issues with a therapist.

John Slattery

And making up the trio of Mad Men alumni for Wet Hot American Summer:First Day Of Camp is John, who played Roger Sterling.

Aside from the Mad Men reunion, he also has a part coming up in Marvel’s Ant Man as Howard Stark, which will see him star alongside Paul Rudd.

And John can be seen in thriller Spotlight about the Boston Globe uncovering a child molestation in the Catholic church story, with a star cast including Rachel McAdams, Mark Ruffalo, Michael Keaton, Stanley Tucci and Liev Schreiber.
