MORE than 1500 hungry foodies descended on Marlow on Sunday for a feast of flavours at a food festival dubbed “a resounding success” by organisers.

The 2014 Marlow Food Festival on the banks of the Thames at the Compelat Angler hotel featured a host of demonstrations and tasters from culinary connoisseurs.

Guests included headliner and Michelin starred former Danesfield House chef Adam Simmonds.

He wowed a packed crowd in the cookery theatre with a version of his chicken consommé dish ‘Your Share’ which featured on the BBC’s Great British Menu.

And over 30 stallholders offered gathered crowds a taste of what’s hot in the foodie world, including wine tasting and free samples of cake and curry.

Organiser Helen Rathbone said: “We’re absolutely delighted with the turnout, I’d say it’s been a resounding success.

“It was a continual flow of people with a mixture of families, couples and foodies with many saying they hadn’t attended the event before”.

The sixth annual festival also featured the new Compleat Angler head chef Michael Lloyd demonstrating a honey whipped goats cheese starter.

And everything you ever wanted to know about Lemons was addressed at a book signing by Yasemen Kaner-White, author of The Lemon Compendium.
