Season of screenings at Epsom Playhouse
5:04pm Thursday 21st June 2012 in Freetime By Hardeep Matharu
The Muppets is one of the films on offer at Epsom Playhouse
Epsom Playhouse will be screening a selection of thought-provoking and entertaining films in preparation for its annual summer film festival.
George Clooney stars in The Descendants (15) on June 29, at 2.30pm and 7.30pm, which charts the sometimes humorous, sometimes tragic journey of an indifferent husband and a father of two girls, who is forced to re-examine his past and embrace his future when his wife suffers a boating accident.
On July 3, at 7.30pm, Lionel Shriver’s bestseller We Need To Talk About Kevin (15) is brought vividly to life on the big screen. A mother grapples with feelings of accountability and intense grief after her troubled 15-year-old son commits an act of violence so great it shakes their community to its core.
Martin Scorsese’s adaptation of Brian Selznick’s award-winning novel The Invention of Hugo Cabret, Hugo (U), will be shown on July 10, at 2.30pm and 7.30pm, and Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe has the lead role in The Woman in Black (12a) on July 11, at 7.30pm, adapted from the spine-chilling tale by Susan Hill, which is also a successful West End show.
To round off the run, Kermit, Fozzie, Miss Piggy and Animal reunite to stage the greatest Muppet telethon ever on July 31, at 2.30pm, in The Muppets (U), which also stars Enchanted’s Amy Adams and Jason Segel.
