Forced Entertainment show to premiere in Wandsworth

The UK premiere of innovative theatre company Forced Entertainment's latest work is coming to Wandsworth.

In The Coming Storm performers turn their attention to narrative, following the lead of their 2009 performance Void Story.

Performers test the limits of the story form, creating something akin to a ghost story through deconstructing and reconstructing.

Devices such as amateur dramatics, puppet theatre, song and dance tell an epic story, which is resolutely too big for the stage.

Theatrical tricks take their place alongside broken dances and live music in an attempt to create a blackly comic and haunting tale.

The Sheffield-based company have expanded on their recent forays into dance and storytelling, explored in previous shows The Thrill of It All and Void Story.

It was also influenced by artistic director Tim Etchells' fiction writing, especially the collection Endland Stories.

This new performances features a cast of six performers, with the show featuring live music for the first time in Forced Entertainment's history.

Forced Entertainment have been going strong since 1984 and have grown a reputation for leading the way in contemporary theatre.

Their work reflects an interest in the mechanics of performance, the role of the audience and contemporary urban life.

They delight in corrupting the conventions of theatre and the expectations of audiences, always devising their work as a group to become pioneers of avant-garde theatre.
