The Blue Bengal in Carshalton has been nominated to take part in a competition to find the best South East Asian Restaurant in the country.

MP Tom Brake asked locals to name their favourite Asian restaurant on Facebook with the Blue Bengal coming out on top.

The restaurant represented Greater London in the competition in 2010.

MP Tom Brake said: “Clearly the Blue Bengal is a big hit with local residents. I only hope that they can improve on the 2010 result and win.”

The Tiffin Cup Grand Final cook-off will be held in the House of Commons and judged by MPs and guest celebrities with all proceeds going to charity.

The Blue Bengal team said: “It is a great honour to be nominated for the competition. I only hope the judges enjoy it as much as the locals do.”

If you seek fire in your belly I recommend the Jacket Potato with chilli con carne filling at The Aubergene near Finsbury Park Station.

I'm surprised at this because although it was a very nice restaurant when it first opened, it deteriorated. Watery sauces and a very rude waiter. I stopped going there about 2 years ago, perhaps it's improved again in that time?
