All stand up for All Shook Up
Shaun McGowan and Philippa Easton were treading the boards at Surbiton's Glenmore House in a bid to raise awareness of diabetes.
They performed in the humorous play, All Shook Up, which explores the way people with the condition have to adjust their lifestyles.
In the borough 5,279 people are registered as diabetic, which accounts for 2.9 per cent of the population.
And the play, the brainchild of Kingston Primary Care Trust (PCT) in conjunction with the Kingston Voluntary Group of Diabetes UK and the Pyramid Theatre, aimed to teach people more about its effects.
It told the story of Frank, an overweight lorry driver who moonlights as an Elvis impersonator.
He is diagnosed with type two diabetes and must learn how to adjust his daily existence to improve his health.
Once the actors and actresses had done their bit, the audience had their chance to get involved and ask questions.
The session aimed to teach people about the onset of type two diabetes and give them an opportunity to discuss their concerns.
Alix Polley, primary care development facilitator at Kingston PCT was in the audience.
She said: "It was funny and easy to understand the messages about diabetes. The question and answer time with the characters in role was also good and gave everyone the chance to ask questions."
