The fashion designers of the future saw their creations modelled on the catwalk at Croydon's Whitgift Centre.

Weeks of hard work putting the finishing touches to their designs paid off for the 35 students on the BTEC diploma in fashion and clothing and the BA fashion with business course at Croydon College.

Shoppers stepped off the high street to catch the two free shows last Wednesday when the Whitgift Centre was transformed into a fashion house. A gala show was held in the evening.

The students drew inspiration from the high street, sport, film and street culture to produce their collections.

The fashion show, sponsored by the Whitgift Centre and designer John Rocha a former Croydon College student is the highlight of a week of events showcasing students' work during the annual festival of creativity.

The festival, which draws to a close this Saturday, included film shows at the David Lean cinema, graphic art and photography and theatre design displays.
